OUTREACH & JUSTICE

We care about the world around us and we try to live out our mission statement every day as we reach out into our community, our state, our country and the world.

FAMILY PROMISE

Woodfords Church is one of 13 local churches offering a temporary home to families who are homeless. Four weeks a year up to 5 families eat 2 meals a day and spend the evening in the church.

PORTLAND PRIDE PARADE

Woodfords members, clergy and staff come together every year to walk in the Portland Pride Parade.

FOOT WASHING AT PREBLE STREET

Woodfords clergy participate in the annual foot washing on Maundy Thursday, prior to Easter.

PROJECT FEED

Project Feed, an emergency food pantry, is housed at Woodfords Church. Woodfords donates to Project Feed regularly and also hosts concerts in the Sanctuary which benefit the pantry.

WAYSIDE COMMUNITY LUNCH

Wayside serves lunch every Monday at noon at Woodfords. The volunteers who work the lunch are Woodfords members. Woodfords also works a monthly Wayside dinner on Stevens Ave.

HEIFER FAIR

Sunday School children work hard for weeks preparing for the Heifer Fair where they sell homemade crafts and food. All benefits go to the purchase of animals from Heifer International.

DINAH'S PROJECT

Women living in poverty in Guatamala do not have access to sanitary products. Dinah's Project sews reusable sanitary pads and ships them to women in need.

CHURCH WORLD SERVICE

Woodfords Church acts as the Maine depot for emergency kits for Church World Service every year. We also put together kits/buckets ourselves.

VARIOUS PROJECTS

We take on new service projects when we learn of a need. In the picture above, Woodfords members help repair a cottage at Pilgrim Lodge, a retreat center we attend annually.
