Annual Woodfords Weekend at Pilgrim Lodge (PL)

PL is a United Church of Christ camp on beautiful Lake Cobbosseecontee near Augusta. The camp consists of a large main lodge with a full kitchen and plenty of activity space plus fifteen or so rustic cabins with wood stoves and private baths. Yes, there is running water and electricity! Check out their website for some terrific photos: http://pilgrimlodge.org.

What do we do there? We have fun! We share in preparing meals, play games, swim, hike, fish, or just relax in a rocker and read, worship, craft... but most of all we spend time together enjoying everything God has to offer us in a wonderful setting. Everyone is VERY WELCOME to come—young, old, or in between. If you are new to Woodfords, PL Weekend is a fantastic way to connect with others in the church. For all of us, Pilgrim Lodge Weekend is a great way to refresh our spirits and re-energize our souls. Please consider attending this year!!

Registration forms are on the table as you enter the Sanctuary.

Downeast Fair!

Your fair committee is looking for folks to be the lead person on some of the booths at the fair this November 13th,2010. The responsibilities would be to line up helpers and be at the church to set up your table( with helpers) the Friday before and be there by 8:00AM Saturday to cover the booth and assign workers duties if need be. We have many spots available. If you have questions or would be interested in something particular please contact any one of the committee member- Pam Barrows or Joanne Friedrick.

There are regular Fair Crafting Gathering at Woodfords Church - you are very welcome to come and join in the creative fun of making crafts to sell at the Fair. You could learn a new craft and if you are new to Woodfords, meet some new friends. All the gatherings happen on Saturday mornings in Seely Hall beginning at 9:00am. The next one is scheduled for July 31.

Help the Historical Records Committee!

Do you have records, programs, newsletters, reports, pictures stashed away in drawers or desks about life at Woodfords- past or recent that we can have to help complete our Woodfords historical reference library? Remember you are making history today- so even events in the past few months are already ‘history’! We have been working for over a year to categorize and file a wonderful collection of paper memorabilia in a history corner on the 2nd floor of the Parish House. We KNOW some of you have tucked away files, notebooks, or boxes from some committee or organization you have served. Please bring them to Sharon’s office marked HISTORY and we will find them a proper place. You may give them or loan them- we can also make copies. The library will be open for anyone’s study or enjoyment as soon as we complete an easy reference system. For more information please see Avon Oakes, Marion MacDonald or Peg Emerson. Thank you from your church and this committee.

Gardeners Needed!

If you have a little extra time, Woodfords' gardens could use your weeding expertise. All this warm weather and sunshine has given us a bumper crop of weeds that need to be pulled. No set time is required for this duty, just let us know about your interest, and you can go to work. Please contact Joanne Friedrick at jofried@maine.rr.com or 780-8656.
