Church School and Youth Opportunties

The Church School meets during the worship service from September through June.  The children spend some time in worship in the Sanctuary, then proceed to their classrooms.  We follow the United Church of Christ curriculum Seasons of the Spirit, an in-depth resource not only for Bible study but also for multicultural enrichment and service outreach.  Approximately once per month all grades (pre-school through 7th) meet together for Community Days.  These are special times to focus on certain projects, issues, Scripture stories, or celebrations through crafts, drama, music, and other group activities.  There are also opportunities through the year for children to particpate in Sanctuary worship.  Children up to Grade 2 begin their church school morning with singing, and there are choirs for all ages.

There are three youth groups:  Beginning (grades 4 & 5), Middle (grades 6-8), and Senior (grades 9-12).  Youth group activities range from games, fellowship, and discussions to service projects and work camps.

There is a Confirmation Class offered for those beginning high school.

A week-long vacation church camp for ages 5 and up is usually offered during the summer.

Adult Education

Adult Education ranges from Bible Study to spiritual formation classes to book groups to art workshops.  Currently there are two morning Bible Study groups and an evening class based on The Artist's Way.  Retreats are offered at various times; there has been an overnight women's retreat in May for many years.

We have some well established events and at the same time are always open to new ideas and input in this area.

Intergenerational Fellowship

Activities for all ages include potluck dinners, Mardi Gras Night, an Advent Workshop, a June picnic, and such occasional events as hayrides, Christmas caroling, beach days, and variety shows.  Every September there is an All-Church retreat at Pilgrim Lodge in Gardiner.

Additionally, on the Saturday nearest each equinox or solstice, an early morning outdoor service is held at the Audubon Society in Falmouth.
